59-1518 (cn 18006) (USAF/PACOM 65AS/15ABW Hickam) Aircraft named Ol'Smoky by the FAA, This aircraft has an interesting history as it was built as a KC-135A however it initially operated with the FAA with a US civil registration which was N96. The aircraft was later converted to an EC-135K about 1979 and was one of only three of type to carry the K designation. In 1996 59-1518 reverted to a C-135K on its posting to VIP duties at Hickam. Certainly one of the more interesting aircraft to visit BNE this year. |
