N817PA (cn 453) "Clipper Midnight Sun" is ready for pushback from gate B33. This was my last photo of a Pan Am plane. It was already operating for Delta with a small sticker behind the cockpit windows. Soon thereafter the paint was removed, so this was quite a short-lived combination. [Kodachrome 64] |

TR-LTZ (cn 46053/446) It was a foggy morning when the DC-8 got clearance for take off on runway 18, operating a German Cargo service to JFK. But instead of lining up on the runway the crew accidently turned into the parallel taxiway (only 1200m long) and speeded up. Take off was aborted and the aircraft stopped after 700m in soft ground with 2 engines torn off. This photo was taken one day after the incident. |

YI-AGP (cn 22366/565) "Shat-al-Arab". Iraqi often used the 747 on their scheduled services to Frankfurt, but for some reason YI-AGP showed up very rarely. It is seen here on a rainy Saturday afternoon operating for Egypt Air. Delivered to Iraqi 7/82. Stored at Tozeur, Tunisia since 1991. [Kodachrome 64] |

N479EV / 979 (cn 19898/94) Evergreen's new Supertanker visited Hahn during a European demonstration tour. Pictured here on a low approach releasing 20,000 gallons of water onto the runway. This aircraft started its life with Delta as N9898 in November 1970. Later registrations include B-1860 (China Airlines), EI-BOS (GPA) & N725PA (Pan Am). Joined the Evergreen fleet in April 1991. |

N747PA (cn 19639/2) "Clipper Juan T. Trippe". Approaching runway 25R on its final visit to Frankfurt. This flight (routing CDG-FRA-MIA) was quite a surprise as Pan Am had officially ceased their transatlantic operations with the last 747 service to JFK on November 1, 1991. N747PA was delivered in October 1970 and its life with Pan Am was only interrupted by a 2-years lease to Air Zaire as N747QC in the early 70’s. Wfu 12/91. [Kodachrome 64] |
