UK - Air Force
McDonnell Douglas F-4J(UK) Phantom
Leuchars (St. Andrews) (ADX / EGQL)
UK - Scotland, September 21, 1990
Remark
Photographer
ZE363 / W (cn 3338/0385) Following Operation Corporate in 1982, which saw one of the RAF's air defence Phantom squadrons permanently deployed to the Falklands, the British Government purchased fifteen surplus F-4Js from the US Navy to solve the RAF's airframe shortage. The aircraft were delivered in 1984 to the newly reformed 74 Squadron. This example is seen on the eve of Leuchars annual Battle of Britain at Home Day.

British Aerospace Harrier GR7
Leuchars (St. Andrews) (ADX / EGQL)
UK - Scotland, July 21, 1993
Remark
Photographer
ZG471 / AB (cn P61) Leuchars Visiting Aircraft Section would handle several visiting aircraft each day, sometimes as many as thirty to forty on the odd occasion, and was one of the busiest RAF stations in the UK during the Eighties and Nineties. Here, "Rubic 1 and 2", a pair of Harriers from 3 Squadron, RAF Germany, have dropped in for fuel during a routine training exercise.
