JA9684 / MH684 (cn 31294) One of two Bell 212’s that were on board the patrol vessel Yashima while visiting London. The Yashima PLH-22 (Patrol Vessel Large with Helicopter) was moored on the River Thames in the Pool of London along side the preserved cruiser HMS Belfast. At the time of photography the Japanese Coast Guard was known as the Maritime Safety Agency of Japan (JMSA) and became Japan Coast Guard in April 2000. |

G-BEPS (cn SH1822) This Belfast last flew at the end of April 2001 when it flew to Southend for storage, it was scrapped in November 2008. Parked together with the Heavylift operated IL-76, an unusual sight for Luton. This IL-76TD CCCP-76758 (cn 0073474203) was leased from Volga-Dnepr Airlines, later as RA-76758 it was damaged beyond repair by typhoon Pongsona at Won Pat International Airport, Guam on 8th December 2002. |

G-AOVS (cn 13430) Luton’s fire training area prior to the installation of a purpose built training rig. The Britannia fuselage is accompanied by an early production HS.125 5N-AWD (cn 25008). The HS.125 was later removed for off airport emergency training. At the time of posting the Britannia was still on site at the edge of the training area. |

WP190 / K (cn S4/U/3041) This veteran of the Suez Crisis was retired in 1958 (having been replaced by the F.6) and became an instructional airframe (7582M) at RAF Bircham Newton, Finningley & Upwood. In 1974 it became the gate guardian at RAF Stanbridge allocated 8473M, photographed having been fully repainted in the previous year. It was sold at auction as Sotheby’s Lot 204 in 1994, later gifted to the Tangmere Military Aviation in 2002. WP190 is one of only two F.5’s that survive today. RAF Stanbridge will close in March 2013 |

HA-LAJ (cn 1AJ005-11) On 28thAugust 1993, this An-28 was damaged beyond repair during a heavy forced landing following total engine power loss (due to an electrical defect) after take off from Weston On The Green. The seventeen parachutists and two crew on board vacated the aircraft uninjured. Photographed within the confines of the AAIB compound. Note the construction AJ005-11 number differs from that applied to the end of the wing section AJ005-12. The cockpit section is now owned by a collector in Vik, Norway. |

PK-UHE (cn 30087) Early on the morning of the 3rd August 1994 while en route from Wamena to Timika, Papua, Indonesia, this Bell 205 ran into adverse weather with fog. Insufficient fuel remained for a flight back to Wamena, and the helicopter was force landed into the forest. The five persons on board all survived. (Date also quoted as 2nd August). Photographed five weeks prior to the accident, many thanks to the helicopter engineers for their permission to photograph & Hawker de Havilland for the hangar access. |

63-8001 (cn 18618) The role of the EC-135G was as an airborne command control centre for ballistic missile launch or as a communications relay platform, four aircraft were converted from standard KC-135A’s. This one of the 4th Airborne Command Control Squadron, part of the 28th Bombardment Wing is visiting from Ellsworth AFB South Dakota. Backtracking Mildenhall's eastern starter extension with VC-135B 62-4125 holding on the northern taxiway. 63-8001 went to the AMARC storage facility as CA0017 18th May 1992. |
