N178UA (cn 24385/820) Wing Shot - We were landing as UA931 from London. We were told to line up for 28L and allow a 757 (landing on 28R) to lead the way to the threshold, during the simultaneous approach. While on a 1-mile final we couldn't slow down enough, and overtook the 757 just seconds before touchdown. The runways are less than 1,000 ft apart at SFO, and this photo illustrates just how close we got. Imagine the wake turbulence behind this "parade". |
