925 black (cn 600) This Russian MiG-29 plummets towards the the ground like a flaming comet trailing smoke and burning fuel having collided with her sister 526 during their air display at the 1993 International Air Tattoo. |

925 black The moment my heart stopped! A Russian MiG-29 925 has just smashed into the ground having collided with her sister 526 during their air display at the 1993 IAT. At this point I thought the pilot was still in the plane though he had already escaped without injury. If you look carefully to the right of the photo the MiG's tail fin can be seen bouncing away from the wreckage and other flying debris is visible. A moment I will never forget. |

61-7967 (cn 2018) One of the stars of the 1989 International Air Tattoo, this awesome SR-71A Blackbird seemed to attract a constant stream of curious visitors. One of my all-time favourite photographs and posted to celebrate achieving 1000 photos in the Airliners.Net database. |

55-0094 (cn 17210) Kansas Aviation Museum's B-52D 55-0094 is, according to the museums guide, a war veteran, having flown missions from Andersen AFB Guam as well as U Tapao RTNB between 1966 and 1975. She is also the most complete B-52D preserved today. |

526 black This was the moment we realised that one of the Russian pilots had survived the mid-air crash between the two MiG-29s at the 1993 IAT. The pilot who has ejected can be seen in the top left of the photo, his 'Fulcrum' can be seen as a speck in the centre missing part of her wing and on fire, while the fireball to the right is from the already crashed MiG-29 925. |

WF562 (cn 11713) A very rare colour photograph of an RAF Washington. This was a Boeing B-29A-70-BN Superfortress and is most likely 44-62256. A total of 87 B-29s were loaned to the Royal Air Force from 1950 to 1955. This slide was taken prior to the Coronation RAF Review at RAF Odiham by my father, Flying Officer D.W.Baldock. |

925 black The mortal remains of MiG-29 925 burn fiercely seconds after she touched earth for the final time on the 24th July 1993. To the left can be seen French C-130H 5140, Belgian C-130H CH-04 and Italian G222 MM62130; had the MiG fallen just a few meters to the left, well who knows what would have been? Perhaps it *was* my 'lucky day', I just did not know it at the time. |

160390 / AJ-202 (cn 246) This VF-84 'Jolly Rogers' Tomcat was on display in less than perfect weather at the 1993 IAT. Sadly VF-84 was disbanded on the 1st October 1995 however this Tomcat was written off on October 25th 1994 making an approach to the USS Abraham Lincoln. Her pilot, Lt. Kara Hultgreen, perished in the accident. Rest in Peace. |

81-0892 (cn 19382/627) The enormous nose of this EC-18B ARIA (Advanced Range Instrumentation Aircraft) was clearly very popular with many airshow goers on a very hot day in October 1999. The impressive nose art reads "The Beast"! |

G-BOAB (cn 208) Was it really 19 years ago? The Concorde was an established and welcome visitor to the International Air Tattoo's and 1987 was no exception. The entire airshow crowd of many tens of thousands would hush entranced as Concorde swept over the threshold, her extended undercarriage and graceful wing making her look so different to any other aircraft in the show. |

G-AS** A somewhat unusual sight at the 1990 Battle of Britain Airshow at RAF Abingdon was this former British Airways Super VC-10 which was being worked upon in a specially adapted hangar. She might have been G-ASGL which went to Filton in October 1990 for conversion to K.4 standard. |

XM655 Once a year the preserved Vulcan B.2 XM655 performs a high speed taxi run at Wellesbourne Mountford. This photograph taken at the June 2004 event shows the moment when the throttles are chopped, the nosewheel is off the ground, and the speed brakes are just starting to extend. An short but awesome spectacular of sight and sound! |
