C-FCBK (cn 28940) Airtanker 11 is seen here coming in to land over Lesser Slave Lake, with another A26 joining in the circuit. Unfortunately this machine ran off the runway on August 12, 2004, less than a month after this picture was taken, damaging the machine and injuring the pilot. We wish him a speedy recovery. |

C-GGSM (cn 30741) Rustic scene in Alberta's upper North: some flowers in the foreground, nice blue skies with a few clouds, but the fire retardant tanks and the bulldozers suggest another story. Just like the helicopters, the bulldozers are used to control fires. Steen River is an airstrip without permanent facilities, but cabins for overnight shelter and a mobile control tower had been trucked in. |
