N10114 (cn 193L-1079) The TriStars sold to California's one time favourite airline, PSA, were unique in having passenger accomodation in the lower deck where cargo/baggage normally goes, hence the FAA required mods you can see behind the nosewheel doors. Plenty of great colour photos of the Psychedelic Red and Pink scheme on this site or you can rest your eyes with this monochrome shot. |

D-BABD (cn G04) Perhaps before its time in a market sector now full of jets the VFW-614 lost its makers a lot of money. Was it not the only post-war German-led Airliner design, discounting the East German BB152. I found it a pretty looking plane. |

4X-FPX (cn 15964) An ex Pan Am civil built Stratocruiser. this had the side cargo door, two others had swingtails, later the Israelis got ex USAF C-97s. The rarest'Strat' I saw was the YC-97 which passed through Heathrow to israel and was drived from the B-29 with Wright engines and 2024 alloy structure, apparently used to ferry Magisters to Katanga, |
