This aircraft first served with LSK (Lufstreitkrafte und Luftverteidigung der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik) from 1960 to 1964 as a Il-18B, serialled 493. It was transferred to Interflug in 1964 and converted to Il-18D and served the airline until 1986. During that time it was re-registered DDR-STD. In 1991 it was moved to Harbke near Helmstedt and made into a café. Apparently it is also used for weddings?! |

SE-BSU (cn 395) "Steinar Viking". Parked very close to the old public viewing area, wearing the impressive all-metal c/s. A year or so later all the Metropolitans were repainted with white top fuselage and dragon head a la the new introduced DC-7C. This is my very first own photograph of an aircraft. It was shot on 9x6 roll film with an old box camera. |
