HZ-AIJ (cn 22750/560) This SP arrived at Dulles during the last week of November and left at the beginning of January. During its stay in Washington it would go flying for about one hour every Wednesday at noon - like clockwork. However, New Year's Eve brought some added luck in the form of strong westerly winds and cross-runway approaches to Runway 30. Good runway ops, a beautiful aircraft and a lucky break in the clouds - this photo is the product! |

D-ABVH (cn 25045/845) An extremely rare event caught on camera. Just by chance I was at the airport that day to drop my father off for his flight to FRA. Winds were strong, blowing from the West at about 25kts. Pilots were flying approaches to Runway 1R and then crossing over to 30 for landing, as this LH jumbo is seen doing, passing in front of the new tower during his bank. I'm glad I brought my camera along! |

VP-BDJ (cn 20046/605) After chasing this plane for more than a year, I was overjoyed when I saw a flightplan filed for it into IAD. N801DE / 801 (cn 48472/480) Finally, after much debate over the appearence of Ethiopian's latest addition, their recently aquired tri-holer makes its first appearance at a very humid, hazy IAD upon the conclusion of ET500 from Rome. The World titles have been removed (as can be clearly seen) and Ethiopian titles have been applied instead. Also added are the 60th anniversary sticker and Ethiopian's tail logo (just infront of the registration). Nice looking ex-Delta hybrid right there, although I wish they had painted the tail! |
