B-16705 (cn 32645/597) As this EVA T7 300 makes its way down to 24R, I’ve given you a wide angle view of the area. To the left of the shot is a group of cars holding on Lincoln Blvd. for traffic making its way down Sepulveda Blvd. Soon they will get the green light and merge into Sepulveda, one of the major arteries leading into LAX. In addition, just behind the red lights on the left of the screen is the In N Out and small park area. Oh, and we can’t forget mother nature. She provided the lovely weather for the shot! |

D-AIHX (cn 981) Over the years I have shown you many perspectives from this area, but none says it quite like this shot. The interaction between man, food, and machine is played out perfectly. A candid moment in time that says so much, as evident in each individual’s reaction. Every time I take pictures here I feel a part of the excitement, that you really need to experience firsthand. Hopefully this shot will entice you to visit, one day! Here we see LH450 from FRA on short final for 24R. Local time 16:49. |

OH-LGG (cn 48753/608) Every now and then LAX will receive an unexpected visitor. This charter FINNAIR Boeing MD-11 brought a soccer team from Barcelona Spain to (F.C.B.) play the LA Galaxy. 93,137 attended the match and Barcelona won 2-1. Here we see their charter beauty waiting for the next leg of their US trip, while NWA01(Delta colors) rotates off 25R on her way to RJAA, on one beautiful Saturday afternoon. |

B-2468 (cn 28755/1128) Ah summer! Shorts, clear skies, a cool gentle breeze off the ocean, and everyone having a GOOD time. It was a late Sunday afternoon and I was glad to be down at LAX. The temperature was at least 30 degrees warmer at my home in San Dimas, some 40 miles north east of the airport. So you can see why the In-N-Out and park to the south is so inviting. Here we see CAA983 from ZBAA screaming across the intersection of Sepulveda and Lincoln, seconds from TD on 24R. Local time 18:21 PDT. |

ZK-OKG (cn 29403/591) I think the majority of you here know that good weather condition are paramount in getting an excellent shot. And for me the winter light here at LAX is just perfect about 3/4 of an hour before sunset. Case in point this beautiful Air New Zealand 777 rotating off 25R on its way to LHR as NZ002. As you can see the HOLLYWOOD sign is clearly visible with the larger San Gabriel Mountains in the background. A rarity as smog is usually the pest here. |

N***UA What a rarity it is these days to still see a domestic flight operating with 747. This is UA943 from ORD to LAX . For me this shot is quite ironic, as I made my first 747 flight some 38 years ago on a United flight round trip to ORD and back. Then prices were regulated and the fares were set. RT was 232 US dollars. Funny, if you look hard enough you can probably find a similar fair today. That’s the power of deregulation! A big thank you goes out to Jorge Chavez for lending me his 5D Mk II. I sure like the FF sensor. |

9V-SFD (cn 26553/1069) Ah summer! It’s just a few months away and with it brings some good lighting conditions for the north side of the field. As the sun sets high in the northern latitudes it illuminates landing aircraft from late afternoon to dusk. Here we see “Sing Cargo” cross just to the south of the In-N-Out on her way down to runway 24R. Clear blue skies and palm trees adorn the magnificent 74 freighter ,with the queue for In-N Out take out stretching back around the building and heading west. Local time is now 17:08PDT |

VH-OQB (cn 015) For months now I have been trying to get the illusive QF 11 (388) on the north side and every time something prevents it. Either she went to the south side, or the weather was bad, once they substituted a 747 for the 388, but it was always something. However, today it all came together, and quite nicely I must say. So here we see her crossing Sepulveda Blvd with the In-N-Out in the BG on a beautiful spring day. Local time is now 9:28. BTW.. the Double Double burger and fries sure tasted good that morning! |

9V-SGE (cn 563) Ah, the winter time here in So. Cal. can be extremely clear, that is right after a storm. And on this day that was exactly the scenario that played out. A quick moving storm the night before had moved through the area leaving it sparkling clear, as witnessed in this shot. Here we see SQ 40 about to land on 24R at 13:54 PST. Just a note of change from 2006 to today. SQ 40 is now SQ 38 and the change occurred about a year ago. I'm not sure why though. |

B-16706 (cn 33750/612) This little area just south of the In N Out was in disrepair for over a year and one half. But about 4 months ago they put in new grass and fixed it up quite nicely. Here we see fellow A net photographer Matt Wallman doing his thing in the landscape mode, while I take the portrait angle. No matter which way you shoot her this T7 looks mighty impressive! Local time is now 13:57 PST. |

VH-VOZ (cn 35302/745) I was down at LAX waiting for another opportunity to get the elusive Qantas A380. Fate was not on my side this time either, as the flight tracker was wrong and the 380 was really a 747 that landed on the south side. However, my friend Matt Wallman told me V Australia's 777 was coming in around 4:30P, so I decided to stick around to get her. Good thing as she looks quite nice in the late afternoon light. Here we see her rolling out on 25L with Emirates about to depart in the BG. Local time was now 16:15. |

A6-EWE (cn 35582/725) Have you ever had one of those days where nothing went right? This was one of those days for me. For starters I had planned to shoot this T7 on final as she arrived, but somehow I missed the angle I wanted. Another mishap was the Qantas 380. I wanted to get her too on short final, but I wasn't happy with the results. And just to add insult to injury... I accidentally stepped in dog poo on my way back to the car. Nevertheless, here we see Emirates 216 departing 25R, illuminated by a nice California Sunset! |

HL7734 (cn 34207/528) This was the day after Christmas, and as it turned out.... it was perfect! Christmas day was cold and rainy, but the by-product of the storm was a beautiful dusting of snow in the local mountains. Behind the T7 is Mt. San Antonio, affectionately known to the locals as "Mt. Baldy". It's the highest peak here in Los Angeles County at 10,064ft (3,068m) and the distance from LAX is about 60 miles. Clarity we rarely see here in Southern California. Local time was 14:52 PST. |

9M-MPP (cn 29900/1296) That's the one nice thing about mother nature, she's always willing to give you something different. Case in point, this beautiful golden sunset that only lasted for a few minutes. After that the sun came out and gave me a totally different look, but I love the way these few minutes played out. Here we see MAS94 from Taipei about to land on 24R. Local time was 17:44, with sunset occurring at 18:13..... to be exact. |

N***UA When I first started dating my wife back in 1980, we use to make trips down to LAX to watch the airliners and photograph them. I have several candid ones like this from back then that I need to scan. I'm planning on doing it soon. Here we see my wife of 26 years standing on the corner of Sepulveda and Lincoln Blvd. as a United 76 passes directly over her. Not more than 10 seconds later she (the 76) touched down on 24R. Local time was now 18:54 PDT. |
