EC-JLE (cn 702) Recently the airport commission recommended moving 24R – 6L 260ft (79.248M) to the north of where it is now to add a center taxiway. Consequently, if it happens, shots like the one above will take on a whole new look. The experience of dining on a burger will take on a new feel too, as the big ones will be right above you! Here we see an IB 346 on short final for 24R. Local time is now 16:15 PDT. |

Ah, LAX at dusk. It’s a magical time of the day and especially when it’s crystal clear. Here we see a VS 346 preparing for her return flight home parked at terminal 2. T2 is the original international terminal dating back into the 60’s. Two terminals up we can see (North side TBIT) an IB 346 and TK 777 preparing for departure too . If you follow the ridge line of the Santa Monica Mountains down to the sea you will see Point Dume some 20 miles away, with Santa Cruz Island just to the left of it.16:56 PST |

HL7614 (cn 068) It was a beautiful late winter morning and KE-17 was running about 30 minutes early today. From this great vantage point (corner triangle of Lincoln & Sepulveda) the jets pass about 200ft (60M) right above you, about 8 seconds from TD on 24R. The sound is an experience in its own. Overwhelming, but in a good way, and never to the point that it hurt my ears. Something I think everyone should experience sooner… or later. Local time 8:26 PST. |

ZK-OKQ (cn 40689/984) I’m sure you have heard the old saying… the third time is the charm? Well, it couldn’t have been truer. Two weekends before this shot was taken OKQ landed on 25L. The next weekend 24R was closed for maintenance so she landed on 24L. However, luck was with me the third time for her to land on 24R. Here we see her on a beautiful summers eve passing the famous In-N-Out. The crossed palm trees on the left are actually a part of the In-N-Out logo. Nothing says So Cal more simplistic than this shot! Local time 19:05 PDT |

F-HPJA (cn 033) AF66 was running about two hours late today. She returned to CDG with a technical problem that was resolved in about 45 minutes. That is a good thing as the later in the day she arrives the better the light becomes for this location. Here we see her passing the In N Out with the late lunch crowd enjoying the spectacular view. Once landed she made her way to the remote stands on the west end of the 24 complex. I’m not sure why as there was one more 380 gate available at the TBI terminal. Local time 14:44PDT |

VH-OQJ (cn 062) Getting the opportunity to photograph one of these Trent 900 up close and personal was a real treat. I actually stopped for a minute just to marvel at how artistic this engine really is. From the uniquely shaped fan blades, to the honeycomb webbing surrounding them, and last but not least the pointed spinner cone with the beautiful orangish yellow swirl. Here we see ship QJ on a beautiful winter afternoon, waiting for her return flight home later that evening. Local time 15:42. |

N273WA (cn 48519/539) N273WA started her career back in March 1993 when she was wet-leased to Garuda by World Airways. About 4 months later she was flying World charters. From late 1994 until August of 1998 she was wet-leased to Malaysia and Garuda again, then City Bird, Garuda once more, Monarch, and finally back to World, whose charters she has flown ever since. Here she is resting between charter flights in the latter part of Dec. 2011, configured in high density Y class with 355 seats. (3-4-3) Boy, those seats are tiny! |

Ah winter! It’s a wonderful time of the year filled with a beauty of its own. Case in point, this lovely, red hued sunset that we only see in late fall and early winter. The new international terminal is coming along just fine too. It’s scheduled open date is almost a year from now on 12/12/2012. And if you’re hungry the Encounters Restaurant in the center of this picture is a great place to dine. Oh, the view isn’t bad either! Local time is now 17:40. |

ZK-OKM (cn 38405/902) It was a beautiful late summer eve, and NZ 1 was running about 15 minutes early today. That was a good thing as sunset was to occur at 19:15 PDT, her scheduled arrival time. However, that extra 15 minutes afforded us this golden hue twilight shot. Oh, BTW, shooting from this exact location has its advantages. The great smell of burgers and fries cooking. And every once in a while burning rubber mixed in. Unique, to say the least. |

HL7613 (cn 059) It was a beautiful Sunday morning and the forecast was for clear skies with temperatures in the mid 70’s. (23C+) The weatherman did not disappoint today as you can see. Korean Airlines started 380 service to LAX less than a month ago. And as of yesterday flight 17 is now a daily 380. Here we see ship 13 crossing the intersection of Sepulveda and Lincoln and is about to TD on 24R, a mere 20 seconds ahead of its arrival time. (9:55) Local time is now 9:54:40 PDT. |

VH-OQE (cn 027) I was lucky today, QF-11 arrived when the sun was at the perfect angle to illuminate her welcome. This "Welcome to LAX" stone sits in the park just south of the In N Out. It's also a great place to relax and eat your burger... if you like. Here we see ship QE crossing Sepulveda Blvd. about 12 seconds from TD on 24R. To top this shot off, northbound traffic crossing the LAX VOR is leaving a beautiful contrail. Local time 9:20 PDT. |

9V-SKJ (cn 045) SQ 12 from Narita was running about 95 minutes late today. The lunch crowd at the In N Out didn't mind as they were treated to a sight rarely seen in the afternoon.... a beautiful 380 passing by. Singapore has been operating 380 equipment on this route for only a month now, starting back on July 1st. Finally... how can you beat a good burger, fries, and a 380! The best combo in town. F-GSQA (cn 32723/466) Most DSLR’s these days have the capability of recording HD video and my 7D is one of them. So needless to say I have been doing just that… recording video of airliners like the one above. Now, along with the video comes audio, and for my finely tuned ear the 777-300 has the most pleasing sound of any jetliner I have heard so far. Kind of a high pitched whine, as she passes over. B-2056 (cn 27525/66) As CSN327 crosses Lincoln Blvd. seconds from TD on 24R, the sun is about to set high in the northwest skies on another day. The visual is wonderful and speaks a thousand words, but the audible is just as impressive. The roar as she crosses over, and the rush of the wingtip vortices swirling all around you are something worth experiencing too. The little pleasures in life make it all worthwhile. |
