61-7972 (cn 2023) This Blackbird salutes the airfield prior to landing for the SBAC show. It had just set a world record by travelling from New York to London in just 1 hour 54 minutes and 56.4 seconds. This was timed between two 'radar gates' at each end. Of course, only the English weather spoilt it... |

N77773 (cn 19919/81) National's "Fly Me" campaign really struck a chord in the early seventies, even giving rise to the famous 10cc hit single "I'm Mandy, Fly Me". However, in this shot it is "Linda" about to depart for Miami on flight NA001. |

996 (cn 600904) At the Militarhistorisches Museum. During the early nineties I made several trips to eastern Europe and I would always return home with a few 'new types' under my belt. This An-14 was one such example. |

SU-AXB (cn 73A048) Was delivered via Heathrow in order to have seats fitted. It was the first of eight to be delivered, but it was this aircraft's loss on a training flight on 10 July 1974 that led to the fleet's return to the USSR the next year. Thanks to Derek Day for his help with this photo. |

5X-UAL (cn 18580/336) A typical Stansted scene of times gone by - a freighter sits by a stored 707 (N716HH, originally bound for failed Italian start-up Aeropa) and some burnt hulks (including former Belgian AF C-54 G-AZSI). This ex Pan Am 707 was not so lucky either, being the fatal victim of a Tanzanian Army raid on Entebbe Airport in April 1979. |
