RA-96017 (cn 74392302014) We expected a few Russians during the day, but this was the highlight. After a miserable day weather wise it was a pleasure to share the very crowded viewing deck with a hundred others watching this amazingly clean Russian heavy as it prepared for departure. This was the only clean shot possible. Shortly afterwards they slowly pulled her all over the ramp making long exposures impossible. 100-400 at f/8 for 5" exposure - crisp! [300D] |

N497MC (cn 29258/1220) It has been almost a year and a half since Emirates started their freight service to JFK via GOT. Arriving and departing under the cover of darkness, on both ways, means that photographers have to hope for long delays. But this day it all worked out perfectly - the sun was shining, for once it was snow on the ground and even though we had been waiting for almost three hours since 0700 in temperatures reaching down to -15C, it was well worth it to finally be able to catch this beauty! OH-LMZ (cn 53246/1918) This a/c declared an emergency because the gear doors failed to retract. A/c landed safely on Rwy 26 and then it was one dep. and one landing. After that someone decided to search the runway for foreign objects. This resulted in several go-arounds and up to 30 minute delay for some a/c waiting for t/o. |
