The new Museum of Flight's Commercial Aviation Wing will eventually be built around it and the other historic aircraft that are congregating in the same area

EI-BVA (cn 404-0237) Less then a month after its delivery to Iona National Airways from Sweden where it was registered SE-GYN, the second Titan II in the Iona fleet is seen here parked on the company ramp on an early summer morning just before departing on the first scheduled passenger flight of the day to Derry. The once very active Iona clubhouse is on the right which was the Irish Aero Club’s center of operations at the airport for nearly 40 years and was the point where many pilots started their career in aviation

The aircraft crashed into a residential area (favela Jardim Ipanema) 2km from the Airport

This is the air traffic controllers view from the Shannon tower looking south east over the west apron and terminal building, with the Shannon Estuary on the horizon. On the left taxiway Alpha leads to the 3200 meter (10499 feet) runway 06/24 the longest in Ireland. It was a quiet afternoon with not much activity at the airport

EI-BSE (cn 1549) Ryanair in the beginning, just over a year after they started in business here on the FR212 from Dublin to Luton, their first scheduled route with regular service using 748's. This aircraft was written off at Pokhara Airport in Nepal on the 11/06/97 when flying for Necon Air as 9N-ACM. It suffered a hydraulic system failure after landing and ran off the runway, the pilot managed to steer the plane back on the runway after 100m but it ran off the left side onto the ramp and struck another parked aircraft
