EI-DHD (cn 33816/1657) Having successfully landed in bitterly cold conditions, this aircraft hit an ice patch on attempting to exit the runway and carried on across the grass. Thankfully no reports of any injuries and apparently very little damage to the aircraft. Efforts to recover the aircraft are well under way here. |

Unfortunately, it hit an ice patch and carried on across the grass. Thankfully no reports of any injuries and apparently very little damage to the aircraft. This is all part of Phase II of the SXM improvement plan. Also note the rough seas in Simpson Bay (to the left), the result of hurricane Wilma passing way out to the West - waves nearly reaching the airport fence! |
