69-7263 / WW (cn 3947) The F-4G design was a conversion of existing F-4E Phantom aircraft, to create the so-called 'Advanced Wild Weasel' variant. In this role these special Phantoms would lure enemy radar stations or SAM sites into emitting a radar lock, thereby locating the enemy, then destroy the site before being downed by incoming missiles. Many of these F-4Gs were deployed to enforce the no-fly zone around Iraq as late as 1996. This example served with the 124th Wing of the Air National Guard at Boise, Idaho. |

FU-51 One of the best gate-guards in Europe, especially surprising given the small stature of this airfield. I throughly recommend everybody to read Richard Bach's excellent tale of flying the F-84F across Europe in his book 'Stranger to the Ground'. |

SP-LNB (cn 4340510) Still barely visible are the titles of the Polish Air Navigation Services Agencu ("Zarzad Ruchu Lotniczego I Lotnisk Komunikacyjnych"). This classic Ilyushin was used to calibrate radar stations across Poland. More recently it was used by the airport's fire department. It has been saved from further destruction and now sits and awaits possible restoration. |

2016 This original Breguet 14 served during World War I as a reconnaisance aircraft. The design was the first production aircraft in the world to utilise significant amounts of metal, as opposed to the all-wooden construction typical of the era. Preserved at Le Bourget's Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace. |

G-JCBJ (cn 760502) JCB's big Sikorsky approaches Battersea at a typically dramatic attitude. Rather appropriate to be captured in front of a construction site, given that JCB's business is diggers, earth-movers and the like. |
