N793VS (cn 245) National Museum of the USAF. In the late 1960s the USAF converted a C-131B into a NC-131H Total In-Flight Simulator (TIFS). The aircraft could be configured with 2 different noses. The first one was a 2 person cockpit from which onboard computers simulated the handling of various aircraft. The second nose could carry a wide array of radars, cameras and other sensors. During its career the TIFS simulated many military, NASA and civilian aircraft including the Space Shuttle. (Canon 40D + 17-55 IS + 430EX) |
