A9C-GJ / 605 (cn 24495/267) "Al-Muharraq". Specially painted in this glorious livery to celebrate Gulf Air's 50th Anniversary which fell on the 24th of March 2000. Knowing that they got it right, no wonder they decided to leave the livery on the plane. Looks just like an Arabian Princess with a veil covering her face & studded with gold all over. Airplane named "Al-Muharraq" after the historical & northernmost island of the Bahrain archipelago, the Bahrain International Airport (BAH/OBBI) is also located on this island. |

G-STBA (cn 40542/879) India is BA's Second Largest Market after the US. At about this time in the morning, SpeedBirds across Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai & Hyderabad depart back to Heathrow. BA's first 777-300ER, G-STBA left LHR as SpeedBird 139 at 11:13am on August 31st 2010 with CEO Willie Walsh onboard for its first revenue flight heading to my home - Mumbai. It arrived here at (midnight) 12:55am Sept 1st. Been DYING to shoot it since, this ends exactly a 100 days of daily toil in checking schedules at odd hours to see (and pray rather) if it was delayed. Finally! Harsh winter weather in Europe to the rescue...... |
