63-13229 (cn 683-8056) German built F104G. The West German AF pilots were trained to fly these aircraft in Arizona. Three years after this photo was taken this aircraft was sold to the Republic of China AF as "4362" with 11 AG 1983. It is now withdrawn from use. I believe the object under the wing is a target drogue. Scanned from an Agfa slide. |

It was operated by 4510th TFTW at Luke AFB, 1983 sold to USAF with 2.959 hours and in 1984 it was sold to Taiwan under Project "Ali Shan No.8" to 41 squadron of 2 Wing of RoCAF coded "4396" It crashed April 10, 1986 when weather and wind direction suddenly changed at CCK AB, causing chaos for airborne aircraft. it ran out of fuel and crashed, pilot Wang Hua Lung ejected safely and the aircraft was written off. 63-13690 (cn 683-8183) One of a pair of F-104s built by Fokker and operated by 4510 CCTW until closure on March 16, 1983 coded 13690 (shadow serial number 2440), sold to USAF to Taiwan in 1983 coded "4386" with 2.452 hours. It crashed September 11, 1987. The pilot Bu Chi-fan ejected near the coast of Nanao, Ilan. He was seen ejecting but his body was never recovered. Scanned from an Agfa slide |
