A79-637 / 37 (cn DHA4159) The Telstars Aerobatic Team Leader's Vampire A79-637 overflies the airfield inverted, after the team performed a 'Break' at the end of their 1965 Laverton display. The Team was operated by Central Flying School (CFS) based at RAAF East Sale. The aircraft were painted Silver, with Orange DayGlo on the nose, wingtips and fins. The Team was named after a space Satellite called 'Telstar'. A79-637 was Del: to RAAF in March 1959. I also photographed A79-637 at WOL in 2008. Low res photo. Apologies for quality.

A2-506 / 506 (cn 9506) Rare low res view of RAAF (Air Force) UH-1H A2-506 at Air Base Butterworth, Malaysia in late March 1982. The SAR helo, operated by RAAF Transport Support Flight (TSF) was about to do a 0.3 hour crew training flight over Penang. (The Butterworth ATC Tower is at rear.) The RMAF took over SAR at WMKB in April 1982, when A2-506 and A2-509 were shipped to 9 Sqn Amberley aboard HMAS TOBRUK. Apologies for low quality of this 27 year old photo.

VH-TBM (cn 21171/1232) A rare 1977 Cabin View, looking forward, in TAA's near-new Stretched Boeing 727-276 VH-TBM (Named 'Albert Namatjira'). Photo taken during a 1.4 hour flight between Brisbane and Townsvillle, while passing the Whitsunday Islands. The passenger load was very low that day. VH-TBM was Delivered to TAA on 18Nov1976 ex N40124, and sold by Australian Airlines as XA-SLG on 05Oct1993. Low res 32 year old photo. Apologies for quality.

A84-229 / 229 (cn 229) Close cropped view of the tails of three RAAF Canberras in outdoor storage at Amberley in 1976, with jacks supporting them. The closest aircraft is ex 2 Squadron Canberra A84-229 (Delivered April 1957), which was later swapped for the RAAF Museum's Ventura (ex-USA). The middle aircraft is 2 Squadron's A84-203, the RAAF's third Canberra (Del Feb 1954). The third aircraft is ex-ARDU. Low Res photo. Apologies for low quality.

VH-VQC (cn 55151/5041) Rare low res close-cropped view of the tail of Boeing 717-2CM VH-VQC, in original Impulse Airlines livery, at the Tullamarine Joint User Terminal in 2001. The aircraft at rear wears the short-lived 'White Cockatoo' tail logo. This aircraft was repainted in Qantas livery when she was transferred to Qantaslink (Impulse Airlines). On 06Dec08 this aircraft ferried out of Adelaide to Honolulu, after she was Sold to Hawaiian Airlines (as VH-NXC), becoming N490HA in Hawaiian service. Apologies for quality.

A20-809 (cn 19809/657) Rare low res view of the front end of the first RAAF Boeing 707 hulk: A20-809 (named 'Hulksbury') taken in the rain in 1992, next to the Richmond Control Tower. She lacks MLG wheels, engines (and tail fin), among other items. This aircraft was formerly Saudi Arabian Airlines HZ-ACC (the first B707 operated by that Airline - Delivered Jan1968). She was purchased by the RAAF to provide spare engines and other parts, to support the RAAF B707 fleet. Photo taken before departure to Farnborough 92 in A20-624.

The Team was operated by Central Flying School (CFS) based at RAAF East Sale. The aircraft were painted Silver, with DayGlo on the nose, wingtips and fins. In Mar 2008 I was surprised to find A79-637 under Restoration at the HARS Facility at Wollongong (WOL). Wow, a 42 year gap between photos of A79-637. The other Vampire at left is A79-665.

A20-624 / 624 (cn 19624/689) Another Farewell Visit to Canberra by the last operational RAAF Boeing 707. The aircraft has performed '29 Years of service to the Nation'. 'Farewell B707 - 1979-2008'. She was officially retired at Richmond late in June 2008. The aircraft is taxying away from the Former RAAF Fairbairn apron. There is a Special 'Farewell Logo' on the tail of this 33 Squadron aircraft. (A20-624 was formerly Qantas VH-EAD).

A94-922 / 22 (cn CA27-22) Low res view of RAAF Sabre A94-922 in the rain (at dusk) at RAAF Base Amberley on 16May1992. The Sabre, also known as the 'Sword', was fitted with a Rolls Royce Avon engine. This aircraft (Del: Mar 1956), in yellow/black 2(F)OCU colours and 'Marksmen' Aerobatic Team logo, was photographed the day that 482 Squadron and 3 Aircraft Depot closed and re-formed as 501 Wing (50 years after these units were formed during WWII.) A94-922 was used as the 'Firestreak' Trials Aircraft, and she was SOC in May 1973.

A79-*** A derelict RAAF Vampire languishes near the RAAF Museum at RAAF Point Cook in 1988. She has a large hole in the ply-wood in the fuselage and she lacks the cockpit canopy and avionics bay. This Vampire looks beyond recovery. She was not in Museum 'Display Condition'. Can anyone please advise the Serial Number and what happened to this aircraft? (RAAF Vampire aircraft were usually painted Silver, with DayGlo on the nose, wingtips and fins.) Low res photo. Apologies for Quality.

The helo had been painted White for Service with the Multi-National Force of Observers (MFO) at El Gorah in the Sinai from 1982-86. (The helo crashed into power lines near Queanbeyan NSW on 17Nov1977. She was later repaired and returned to 5 Squadron Fairbairn.) Apologies for the quality of this 22 year old photo.
