NX49WB / KN987 (cn 126-37841) Built as USAF serial 44-64415 and initially delivered (in 1946) to NACA as NACA130. Raced as N313H from 1965-78. Re-registered to NX49WB in 1978. Initially raced as #94 (later #8) and involved in a runway accident at Reno in Sept-1978. The P-51H was the ultimate Mustang - a full two-feet longer than the P-51D and built with lightweight components and additional power. Painted to represent the P-51H presented to the RAF for evaluation at Boscombe Down, KN987. |
