Rare Low Res Aerial View of RAAF Base Amberley, Queensland, taken from a 5 Squadron UH-1 in Sept 1969, on departure for Exercises at Mt Byron. (5ACS was extending the runway then - lower right). Most hangars visible are WWII vintage, except for 482 Sqn's new Hangar (The Taj!). Low res scanned Agfa CT21 (grainy) slide. Apologies for the quality of this 40 year old photo. |

A21-11 / 11 (cn 0334/AF011) The F/A-18 Hornet Flying Display at the 2008 Amberley Defence Airshow was spectacular - No 3 Squadron F/A-18A A21-11 is airborne off the Amberley runway for her Solo Handling Display. The GE F-404 engines are producing plenty of thrust in After-Burner. (The 3 Sqn 'Southern Cross' logo is on the tail fin.) Special thanks to George Canciani for Editing this image. |
