Calais / Dunkirk (- Marck) (CQF / LFAC)
France, July 7, 2012
Remark
Photographer
Fifty years ago you could hop on a ferry flight across the Channel here in a Bristol Freighter or Carvair, and even take your vehicle. Today LFAC is just a quiet general aviation airfield

Calais / Dunkirk (- Marck) (CQF / LFAC)
France, August 22, 2009
Remark
Photographer
Presently known as the "International Airport Calais-Dunkerque", but formerly the more evocative "Aerogare Louis Bleriot". The airfield was first opened in 1937. During World War II ther Germans occupied the site and built a (now disused) concrete runway. Opened again for commercial operations in 1954, the airport's peak came in 1961 with Silver City, Air Charter and British Air Ferries operating regular flights between Calais and England. At that time it was the fourth busiest French airport.
