A79-830 (cn 4115) Weather-worn RAAF Vampire A79-830 languishes at RAAF Fairbairn in 1983. 'Open air storage' has exposed the ply-wood in the fuselage and she lacks the cockpit canopy. This Vampire had seen better days. A79-830 was Delivered in April 1955, and after retirement she was Allotted to RAAF Fairbairn for 'Display'. She was not in 'Display Condition'. Can anyone please advise what became of this aircraft? (RAAF Vampire aircraft were usually painted Silver, with DayGlo on the nose, wingtips and fins.) Low res photo |
