VH-BYW (cn 3136) This aircraft has an interesting history: registered as a J.5P Autocar, it is clearly not one! It was built as a J.5L Aiglet Trainer (short, aerobatic wings; 145 hp Gipsy Major 10) for agents KSAS and shipped, engineless to Australia. Registered VH-BYW 20 September 1955. Type changed to J.5R Alpine on 7 Oct 1966 following fitting of longer-span, ex-Autocar wings. Somehow this changed to J.5P on the Register! Currently based at Moorabbin & seen here at the Antique Aeroplane Assoc. of Aust's National Fly-in |
