The new El Calafate Airport, located 18 km east of town in the middle of the southern Patagonian desert. The turquoise-colored waters from Lago Argentino have their origin in ice melting of the spectacular glaciers located on the west side of this lake. On the small ramp are Aerolineas 732 LV-ZZI and MD-88 LV-VGB. Picture taken from Aerolineas MD-81 LV-WFN seconds after takeoff (see how fast –due to strong west, headwind- a/c climbed). |
