United Nations (Heli Air Services)
Mil Mi-8P
El Geneina - West-Darfur (HSGN / EGN)
Sudan, July 2007
Remark
Photographer
LZ-CAR (cn 8606) Charlie Alpha Romeo flies for WFP-UNHAS in Darfur. All Bulgarian registered LET410s and Mi-8s are officially banned from the European airspace due to new safety regulations. In Sudan they just do their job.

El Geneina - West-Darfur (EGN / HSGN )
Sudan, July 2007
Remark
Photographer
Interesting, at their website Sudan's CAA mentions 'HSGA' as ICAO-code for El Geneina in West-Darfur. Also, the website states there are two runways paved with concrete, which might not the case for the shorter runway. Mid-2007 an Egyptian company was constructing a new airport -a bit further out of town- with a tarmac runway.
