63-13689 (cn 3) Two rare ones here. This is Buffalo prototype No.3 on the Test Board ramp being evaluated by the Army, which never bought the Buffalo. Three went to the USAF and this one to the Navy. In the background is a Caribou prototype YAC-1, 57-3079. The Caribou is now at the museum at Ft. Eustis VA. Note the 1st Cav patch and the Playboy bunny. |

73-22012 Boeing XCH-62 prototype of heavy lift helicopter standing in front of the Army Aviation Museum at Ft. Rucker, Ala. It was designed to rival Russia's largest HLH in the early 80s. Project was canceled prior to the flight phase, it is rumored because there was simply no mission for an aircraft with such incredible lift capability. Not many details about it available. Thanks to Jenny Hughes/Ft.Rucker and Gregory Gaunt/Boeing for this investigation! |
