Congo (Kinshasa) - Government
Antonov An-12BP
Goma (GOM / FZNA)
Congo (Kinshasa), November 16, 2012
Remark
Photographer
EX-001 (cn 5343606) Normally Echo Zero One is used when the President goes on a visit, but this time its appearance in Goma was related to the clashes between Congolese Army (FARDC) and M23 rebels near the town. It was flying between Kinshasa and Goma bringing supplies for the Congolese Army.

United Nations (Ukraine - Air Force)
Mil Mi-24P
Goma (GOM / FZNA)
Congo (Kinshasa), November 17, 2012
Remark
Photographer
UNO-883 For a long time the Indian Air Force provided Hinds for the MONUC/MONUSCO forces in DRC, but that contract finally expired in July 2011. The Ukrainian Air Force was contracted for the next batch of Mi-24s. Here UNO-883 is on its way for a combat mission to Kibumba, accompanied by UNO-882. Ships UNO-881 and -884 were also present at GOM.

Congo (Kinshasa) - Air Force
Mil Mi-24
Goma (GOM / FZNA)
Congo (Kinshasa), November 17, 2012
Remark
Photographer
9T-HM19 Checking the engine, after it returned from a combat mission. The Mi-24s came to DRC with the typical two-tone colours as many USSR Hinds wore (sand/olive). Initially they were based in the east, but moved to Kinshasa in the course of 2010 as preparation for a fly-past during the celebrations for 50 years of independence, June 30, 2010. Around that time the faded camouflage was being replaced by these glossy colours and the new roundel was applied. In 2011 the Hinds came back to the east (Goma, Bukavu).

Congo (Kinshasa) - Air Force
Mil Mi-24
Goma (GOM / FZNA)
Congo (Kinshasa), November 17, 2012
Remark
Photographer
9T-HM17 Returning from a combat mission. M23 rebels and government troops were fighting for control over the town of Kibumba (at about 25 km north of Goma), and Mi-24s of both the DR Congo AF and UN forces were used for close air support. The day after all aircraft based at Goma airport would relocate to Bukavu. And three days later Goma would fall in the hands of M23.

CAA - Compagnie Africaine d'Aviation
Fokker 50
Goma (GOM / FZNA)
Congo (Kinshasa), November 15, 2012
Remark
Photographer
9Q-CCI (cn 20176) CAA is changing its corporate colours, at least on its Fokker 50s. Regularly, operators emerge in DRC and disappear again, but CAA has been persistent. Here Nine Charlie India is depicted in the finals of FZNA as one of the last arrivals of the day.

CAA - Compagnie Africaine d'Aviation
Fokker 100 (F-28-0100)
Goma (GOM / FZNA)
Congo (Kinshasa), September 4, 2012
Remark
Photographer
9Q-CHO (cn 11493) The numbers of Fokker 50s and Airbus A320s with CAA are growing, but this Fokker 100 remained the only of its type at the moment this image was taken, since it was introduced in October 2011 in the fleet. It flies once a week to Entebbe and it used to go to Bukavu and other smaller airports in DRC.

Untitled (Services Air)
Boeing 727-2S2F/Adv
Goma (GOM / FZNA)
Congo (Kinshasa), September 4, 2012
Remark
Photographer
9Q-CHS (cn 22930/1824) Registered in DRC since October 2011, this 727F was registered 3D-JOY before and had spent a while in South-Africa before it came to DRC. Its three sisters have full Services Air c/s, but the latest addition still wears old colours and no titles. The aircraft arrives here late afternoon from Kisangani/Kinshasa.

Hewa Bora Airways
Boeing 727-22
Goma (GOM / FZNA)
Congo (Kinshasa), May 7, 2010
Remark
Photographer
9Q-COP (cn 18323/136) Taken on one of its last flights before it 'disappeared'. A HBA mechanic based in Goma said in Jan 2011 that COP would return into service as addition to the MD82s. The plane was seen in Feb 2011 in the MX area of Kinshasa's N'Djili airport (South end), as well as all other HBA 727s (-200 series) that were phased out by 2009-2010 and 3 HBA cargo jets (727F, DC-8F and 707F). Oscar Papa reentered service, but crashed on July 8th, 2011 in short finals of Kisangani Int'l in bad WX conditions.

Services Air
Boeing 727-2S2F/Adv
Goma (GOM / FZNA)
Congo (Kinshasa), March 18, 2011
Remark
Photographer
9Q-CVS (cn 22931/1825) All 727s of Services Air are ex-FedEx. They have replaced the Antonov 12s that the company used before. The colour scheme of Victor Charlie is somewhat less elaborate than the scheme on the company's other two 727s. The takeoff of a Services Air 727 from Goma is always a special event, since they use up the whole runway and the commercial centre of town is located right next to the threshold of the RWY.

United Nations (Air Ugra)
Antonov An-24RV
Goma (GOM / FZNA)
Congo (Kinshasa), March 18, 2011
Remark
Photographer
UR-ELW (cn 57310109) A white plane + grey skies do not easily lead to the most beautiful picture you've ever taken. Nonetheless, Air Ugra's Antonovs in Congo are not easily to capture: photography at DRC airports is forbidden and -at the moment the picture was taken- at least seven of them were flying around in UN colours, all over the country. Whiskey is here taxiing to RWY 18.

CAA - Compagnie Africaine d'Aviation
Airbus A320-212
Goma (GOM / FZNA)
Congo (Kinshasa), February 6, 2011
Remark
Photographer
9Q-CSB (cn 438) Captured from a spot next to Goma's runway. Sierra Bravo is climbing out for Kisangani. CAA operated exotic planes the last decade inclusive an Ilyushin 18 and a BAC 1-11. At the moment this picture was taken the fleet consisted of one A320 and three Fokker 50s.

Untitled (Kisangani Airlift)
Antonov An-8
Goma (GOM / FZNA)
Congo (Kinshasa), February 24, 2011
Remark
Photographer
S9-DBC (cn 0G3410) She was one of the last active An-8s in the world, if not the last. The plane had been parked for a while at the end of an active ramp, but early January 2011 Bravo Charlie has been dragged to her last resting place, opposite of a cemetery for citizens of Goma. She is in company of DC-8F 9Q-CLV, 727-100 9Q-CDM and sister An-12 9Q-CGQ.

Congo (Kinshasa) - Air Force
Mil Mi-8
Goma (GOM / FZNA)
Congo (Kinshasa), February 18, 2011
Remark
Photographer
9T-HM20 Arrived to Goma in January 2011, together with 9T-HM 21. DRCongo introduced a new roundel in around 2007-2008, which looks inspired by the USAF roundel. In 2010 two Mi-24s had their home in Goma until they were flown to Kinshasa to join the parade to commemorate 50 years of independence (30 June) and never returned. Late February 2011 an Mi-8 and an Mi-24 were seen at Kinhsasa's Ndolo airport in primer colours, waiting for a new paint job.

Untitled (Gomair)
Boeing 727-22C
Goma (GOM / FZNA)
Congo (Kinshasa), February 18, 2011
Remark
Photographer
9Q-CGB (cn 19195/406) This 727 has its base in Goma, but it was the first time I saw it there. On the image the plane is parked on the murram-ramp that is used for all the cargo planes, while the tarmac ramp in front of Goma's terminal is used for the passenger planes. The cargo jets fly mainly produce from the fertile area around Goma to Kinshasa.
