A stripped down runway that is in the process of getting some new layers of asphalt. Since the runway is being extended from 1800m to 2500m, the existing one will be leveled as well as getting a new top layer. The light posts on the side obviously make it easier for the construction workers to see in the night (work continues 24/7), and it's something you don't see every day. Kind of reminds me of being on a highway. |

PH-AOK / OK-509 (cn 834) KLM7472 came in from Paris Orly again for a post-maintenance testflight and the plan was to make a low approach. Now I've seen my fair share of low approaches by now and that includes an actual touch & go, but this one left me breathless again. I was sure it would touch, but it didn't! There was only a few cm's left between the lowest wheel and the runway. It was also the first time they rocked their wings during the climbout. Really cool to see! Thanks guys!! |

LY-ABT (cn 1G233-20) This aircraft arrived a couple of days ago with transponder problems and it spent a few days at the airport waiting for a new one. A couple of days before that, this frame left Sweden, but encountered lots of problems already, including a fored landing in a field in Sweden. The aircraft was piloted by 2 former US Marines, very cool and nice guys, full of good stories about their experiences with this aircraft. It was ferried to France for a check-up, before going to Arizona for a refurbishment. After that, it is expected to be flown to Africa to perform Medevac/SAR duties. |

PH-AOF / OF-506 (cn 801) KLM7472 pulling up the nose again at the lowest part of their approach. Arrived from Paris Orly and before they came to us for the ILS approach, they did some exercises over the North Sea. This is my first A330 photo at Eelde and I couldn't be happier with the timing, as the light was absolutely gorgeous. Also note the RAT deployed (just next to engine #2) and the guy looking at us from one of the jump seats. |

N717ND (cn 28R-7703348) En-route from Rugen (EDCG) to Hilversum (EHHV) this aircraft encountered technical difficulties, after which the pilot was forced to divert to Eelde. Shortly thereafter, they appeared to have a full electrical failure, and the pilot couldn't get the gear down. He executed the wheels up landing perfectly and both him and his passenger walked away without a scratch. Damage to the aircraft was minor and mainly the prop/engine took a beating. |
