I went for a flight in Chipmunk VH-RSK for a 45 minute aerobatic session (doing spins, rolls and loops) over Point Cook on 30Jan1972. I took this shot of Laverton through the open window, while we were climbing to height - before we started doing aeros over Point Cook (which is visible at the top right of the photo). Point Cook and Laverton are now known as RAAF Williams, named after Sir Richard Williams, the Founder of the RAAF. Low res photo. |

A8-109 / 109 (cn A1-154) RAAF F-111C A8-109 flies past Laverton airfield with wheels down during a hazy day in 1975. This ex USAF F-111A aircraft was acquired as an Attrition Replacement from DMA, and modified to F-111C configuration. (Mods included FB-111 undercarriage and extended wingtips.) The combination of haze and grainy Agfa slide film have degraded image quality. Apologies for low quality. |

A69-7213 / 13 (cn 3871) Port side rear view of RAAF F-4E Phantom A69-7213 on static display, with weapons, at Laverton in 1971. The occasion was the RAAF 50th Anniversary Air Display, which also featured visiting foreign aircraft. This aircraft was Delivered to the RAAF in Sept 1970, and was returned to the USAF in October 1972. The use of Phantoms was a 'stop-gap' measure, while delivery of the RAAF's F-111Cs was delayed due to structural problems. Telephoto lens picture. |
