VH-AND (cn 474) Rare 1973 view of Sir Reginald Ansett's Bell 206A helicopter VH-AND taking off from Melbourne's Yarra Bank Heliport, heading back to Tullamarine. I had just arrived after a 10 minute trip from MEL, which cost $7. (Compared to the $2 bus trip, that was great value, even in 1973 Dollars.) The Crown Casino complex now dominates the skyline where the 'Repco' and 'Coca Cola' signs appear. (Morley Ford then sold Falcon cars.) VH-AND is still flying in 2008! |

This photo was taken from Microflite's Red Eurocopter EC130B4 VH-IXX, just before landing on the adjacent helipad. My 20 Minute flight in VH-IXX was a 60th Birthday present from my Sister and her husband. Thanks for a great Birthday present! (Unfortunately, Heli-Biz Robinson R44 VH-MEB crashed in the Yarra River near the Pier 35 Helipad on 29Dec07.) |
