G-WISH (cn 006) On 12Mar1994, Canberra celebrated its 81st Birthday with a week-long Balloon Fiesta. The Make a Wish Foundation came to the Party with Lindstrand Birthday Balloon LBL Cake G-WISH, shown in the first rays of sunlight just after sunrise on 19Mar1994, the last day of the Fiesta. I wish you could bring G-WISH back for an Encore at Canberras 100th Birthday on 12Mar2013.

N49-049 (cn 57049) View of the Cockpit/ Instrument Panel of leased RAN Bell 429 N49-049, at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) in Canberra ACT during the Open Day on 25Aug2012. This new RAN Type replaces the three A109E Power helicopters previously operated by 723 Squadron from Nowra. The aircraft, Cn 57049, was previously Registered C-GLIK in Canada, N455NB in USA, and VH-NPR in Australia.

The helicopter was on static display at Canberra's Snowy Hydro SouthCare Helicopter Base at Hume, during a fund-raising Open Day in Feb 2008. This helicopter was First Registered in Australia on 22Dec2006.

N42-505 / 505 (cn 11505) Canberra's Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) had an annual Open Day on 27 Aug 2011. RAN Power helo N42-505 is shadowed by RAN Seahawk N24-014 at rear. The Agusta helos were leased from Raytheon Australia for the Navy’s Retention and Motivation Initiative (RMI). The three RAN A-109Es have been replaced by leased Bell 429s. (Bell 429 N49-049 [in Grey livery] was being assembled at Hawker Pacific Bankstown in Feb2012.)

A68-648 (cn 111-36389) P-51D-20-NT A68-648 (ex USAAF 44-13106) in the Bradbury Aircraft Hall in the Australian War Memorial, Canberra in Jan 2010. The aircraft is displayed in bare metal finish, with six 5 inch (unguided) rockets. Surprisingly, the Mustang could carry two 1000 lb bombs, in addition to six 0.50 inch Browning M2 Machine Guns mounted in the wings. The aircraft was received by the RAAF in June 1945, and was acquired by the AWM in 1992.

VH-UTO (cn 5124) Ansett 50th Anniversary Tour 1986, in the Civic Centre Canberra. This restored Fokker F-XI Universal was imported from Graz, Austria in 1974 ex OE-DAA. She was built in 1929, and was first registered as CH-188, later HB-ALO. The aircraft, which is now in the Sir Reginald Ansett Museum in Hamilton Victoria, represents Ansett Airways' first aircraft - Fokker Universal VH-UTO (cn 422), bought by Reginald Ansett in 1936 and used for the first air services between Hamilton and Melbourne. It was destroyed in a hangar fire in 1939.

A25-207 (cn 701135/0921) Canberra's Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) had an Open Day on 28Aug2010. The RAAF Roulettes Aerobatic Team performed a formation flying display, and RAAF Balloon VH-DEF did tethered flights. Blackhawk A25-207 (Named 'Cataphract') is shown departing the football oval display area at the end of the Open Day. ('207' seems to be a popular ADF Serial Number.)

A21-6 (cn 0287/AF006) 3 Squadron Hornets flew a 'three-ship' Flypast over the Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony held at Commonwealth Park Canberra on 26Jan2011. The Lead aircraft was A21-6, with A21-21 and A21-14 as 'Wingmen'. The aircraft were configured with (symmetrical) external fuel tanks under the wings, as well as SUU-20 practice weapon dispensers. (The Wingmen also had an EO pod on the centre-line). The aircraft approached at 420 Kts from the South-East, over Lake Burley Griffin at 500 Feet AGL during a 21 Gun Salute.
