166736 / YM-00 (cn D0099) At first I thought I was looking at 2 pairs of giant birds as in super sized Sea Gulls. Then it hit me. They were USMC Ospreys. They looked strange and somewhat ungainly in flying formation. They were part of the fly past celebrating the commissioning of USS New York. [Nikon D300]. |

141884 / 5 (cn 201) Now repainted into the color scheme of its counterpart at the Pima Air Museum in Tuscon, Arizona, this Grumman F-11F Tiger now sits on the flight deck of the USS Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum in New York City. The Blue Angels livery stands out nicely with the other US military aircraft behind, including the Lockheed A-12 (predecessor of the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird). It might be bitter cold outside, but that doesn't stop people from enjoying the aircraft displays at this museum. |

0327 / 0327 During the Vietnam War, the MiG-17 was used extensively by the North Vietnam Air Foce. Seen here on the USS Intrepid is a Polish-built MiG-17, painted in the North Vietnam Air Force camouflage livery. The New York City skyline is seen in the background on a cold, sunny afternoon. |

1308 On the deck of the USS Intrepid. This aircraft flew out of Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn for many years. An article I read said the museum purchased this aircraft off EBay. Not sure how true that is. |
