Bell 206B JetRanger II
Off-Airport - Newton Abbot
UK - England, May 6, 2005
Remark
Photographer
G-OPNI (cn 83) Ditched into the English Channel near Lyme Regis, Dorset on 5-Apr-1999 while en-route from Teignmouth, Devon to Denham Airport. Pilot became disorientated in fog and force-landed in the sea. The crew escaped unharmed, and fortunately the helicopter inverted and remained buoyant. The pilot and passenger remained on the floating aircraft for 1.5 hours until a boat was able to rescue them. Survivability in the water was considerably less than an hour. They were very lucky the helicopter stayed afloat.
