Douglas C-117D Skytrooper
Off-Airport - Solheimasandur
Iceland, April 29, 2005
Remark
Photographer
17171 (cn 43309) Made a forced landing on November 24, 1973 with no casualties. Been shot at through the years by reckless Icelanders and is now a home to a proud family of ravens. They can be seen sitting around the hatch in the roof. The blood on the fuselage is from their last dinner party. [Canon 20D + EF 70-200 F/2.8L IS]

Remark
Photographer
17171 (cn 43309) I don't have the full story of this aircraft, but it has been sitting there since it ran out of fuel and made an emergency landing sometime around 1973. It doesn't seem to have sustained much damage (except for the nose and underside maybe). Usuable items (engines, wings, etc.) were salvaged. [Canon EOS D30 + Canon EF 28-80, 1/750]
