Untitled
Boeing PT-17/R985 Kaydet (A75N1)
Omaka (NZOM)
New Zealand, March 2014
Remark
Photographer
ZK-KJO / 529 (cn 75-2100) Painted in the trainer colours of the USAAF for whom this aircraft served in the 1940s, it later entered the US civilian register as N52529 before being exported to New Zealand in 2011. Now owned by the Marlborough Aero Club, the "529" code is a nod to its previous US registration. [Canon EOS 40D + EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS USM]

Untitled
Avro 652A Anson I
Omaka (NZOM)
New Zealand, March 2014
Remark
Photographer
ZK-RRA / K6183/VX-B (cn MH120) This is the only airworthy Anson Mk I in the world, painstakingly restored over 10 years! Standing at close quarters listening to the sound of those propellers as it performed its engine run-up against that stunning Marlborough backdrop, I was glad to be able to see it fly soon after this shot was taken. Ex VH-BAF. [Canon EOS 40D + EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM]

Untitled
Sopwith Scout (replica)
Omaka (NZOM)
New Zealand, March 2014
Remark
Photographer
ZK-SPH / A6192 (cn 101) A part of "The Chariots of Fire Fighter Collection" at Omaka, this replica was built in 1961 by noted pioneer of WW-I aircraft reproductions, Joe Pfeiffer in California. It is in the colours of Kiwi WW-I ace Malcolm 'Mac' McGregor. He scored the first of his aerial victories in Pup A6192 on 06-06-1917 when he downed an Albatros D.III near Cambrai, France. He so liked A6192 that he named it 'Peggy' in honour of his sister. (Source: AHC, Omaka) [Canon EOS 40D + EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS USM]
