152399 (cn 65-026) This is an "A" model that was modifed for the MARS (Mid - Air - Retrival - System). The squadron caught drones and operational cruise missiles in mid air (descending via parachute) using a computerized winch system. This aircraft may have been the first such specially modified aircraft and proved the concept for the USAF. |
