XX317 / CH (cn 159/312142) A Hawk of 19 Sqn taxies onto the end of Runway 19 to depart on a weapons training sortie, seen from the elevated position of the railway bridge near the station main gate. The Hawk T.1 is approaching the end of its long career; the replacement T.2 has begun to arrive at Valley for syllabus development and 19 Sqn will be the first to commence re-equipment in a couple of years time. |

XX324 / DM (cn 168/312149) After one of my contract meetings at RAF Valley in 2006 I was shown round the 19 Sqn facilities – this picture was taken in the old 19 Sqn hangar before the squadron relocated across the airfield to make way for the new SAR headquarters. (Panasonic Lumix FZ30) |

XX335 (cn 183/312159) A student of 208 Sqn undergoing circuits is seen here on approach to Runway 19 on an autumn afternoon. This is the view from the view from the spotters’ car park, which is the subject of plans for a visitor centre which could serve as a focus for the walkers, bird watchers and aviation enthusiasts that are all drawn to this beautiful but remote area. Holyhead Mountain can be seen on the horizon. |

XX244 (cn 080/312080) This Hawk is seen here about to participate in a 208 Sqn nine-ship formation flypast at the Valley Aviation Society charity photo-call and families’ day. This particular aircraft had an Air Commodore in the back seat for the display, which must have put a bit of pressure on the pilot… The aircraft in the front of the hangar is a Hawk T.2, several of which are currently being used by 19 Sqn for the development of a syllabus for the new type, which has a full ‘glass’ cockpit and synthetic weapons suite. |

XX181 (cn 028/312028) Sq Ldr Darren Arch of 208 Sqn lifts off Runway 14 as part of a nine-ship formation display at the Valley Aviation Society charity photo-call. The formation was uncannily tight and steady in the best Red Arrows tradition, albeit without the aerobatics, a superb achievement for a squadron that is not a display team. |

In the background, construction work is underway for the new Hawk T.2 operations hangar and new 208 Sqn facilities. Mount Snowdon can just be seen on the skyline. |

XX307 (cn 142/312132) Two Hawks have been given this superb special paint scheme for the 2009 display season, and both were in action during the Valley Aviation Society charity photo-call. The scheme commemorates the 90th anniversary of the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund. Flt Lt Matt Barker, designated 208 Sqn display pilot, has his name on both aircraft. |
