Boeing Vertol HH-46D Sea Knight (107-II)
Warner Robins - Robins AFB (WRB / KWRB)
USA - Georgia, October 27, 1991
Remark
Photographer
152512 (cn 2132) Time Warp? With these hi-viz colors and markings, you'd think you stepped back in time to the early 1960s! Indeed, I can remember seeing numerous military aircraft as a child that were this brightly colored, however, this was the Robins AFB 1991 air show, and the subject was a Sea Knight belonging to the MCAS Beaufort, SC, Base Rescue Flt. The Gloss International Orange and Engine Gray c/s with colorful large markings made for quite an evocative vision in the age of low-viz gray, gray, and more gray...

Lockheed C-130B Hercules (L-282)
Warner Robins - Robins AFB (WRB / KWRB)
USA - Georgia, October 7, 1990
Remark
Photographer
59-5957 (cn 282-3584) This colorfully-marked Herk was sitting off by itself outside the display area at the Robins AFB 1990 air show. Wearing a Europe 1 camo. scheme with flamboyant accents (down to the tri-colored prop edges!), it celebrates the centennial of statehood for Wyoming. Wyoming Air Guard, 153rd Tactical Airlift Grp., 187th TAS, Cheyenne Municipal Airport, WY.

USA - Air Force
Lockheed WC-130E Hercules (L-382)
Warner Robins - Robins AFB (WRB / KWRB)
USA - Georgia, October 22, 1989
Remark
Photographer
61-2365 (cn 382-3688) There was usually a nice turnout of C-130s at the Robins AFB air show, and 1989 was another good year. In a flawless overall Aircraft Gray finish, this colorful "weather" bird came from Keesler AFB, MS, where it was assigned to the 403rd Tactical Airlift Wing, 53rd Weather Recon. Sqn. (USAF Reserve) Hurricane Hunters. Later, the unit received uprated H models, then C-130Js c.2000. A based 19th ARW KC-135R (Black Knights) may be seen in the background.

Lockheed LC-130H Hercules (L-382)
Warner Robins - Robins AFB (WRB / KWRB)
USA - Georgia, October 22, 1989
Remark
Photographer
83-**** Another participating Herk at the Robins AFB 1989 air show was this almost new ski-bird. Shown in its as-delivered Europe 1 scheme, these aircraft assigned to the 109th Tactical Airlift Grp., 139th TAS, NY ANG underwent an interesting reversal of the usual trend toward low-viz c/s; in 1992, they were repainted in a hi-viz Int. Orange and Aircrft. Gray scheme! I can remember seeing the skis on the production line for these a/c, ready for installation c.late-1984. JATO bottles are just visible under wing...

Lockheed EC-130H Hercules (L-382)
Warner Robins - Robins AFB (WRB / KWRB)
USA - Georgia, October 22, 1989
Remark
Photographer
73-1586 (cn 382-4548) Carrying the same color combination as the EF-111 Raven, this EC-130H hails from the 41st Electronic Combat Sqn., Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ. This is the Compass Call variant whose mission is communications and command & control jamming. The landing gear fairing on each side of the fuselage is considerably extended forward to accommodate a high volume cooling system, and there are assorted new bumps and antennas, finishing with a very complex wire antenna running across the entire empennage!

Lockheed EC-130E(RR) Hercules (L-382)
Warner Robins - Robins AFB (WRB / KWRB)
USA - Georgia, October 1988
Remark
Photographer
63-7869 (cn 382-3939) Some crew members wait forlornly at the crew entrance door, seemingly ignored by the air show crowd. The strange & large shapes added to this Herk should have hinted at the fascinating story this one had to tell: This was a highly modified C-130E for the psychological warfare mission (TV broadcasting). One of 3 originally delivered to the 193rd Special Ops. Sqn., Pennsylvania ANG, Harrisburg AP, it was first equipped for electronic recon. (Rivet Rider/Volant Scout), but later changed to Volant Solo for psy-ops.

Grumman G-1159 Gulfstream II-SP
Warner Robins - Robins AFB (WRB / KWRB)
USA - Georgia, May 28, 2013
Remark
Photographer
N492JT (cn 82) The Museum of Aviation seems to be transitioning over to be more of a 'Museum of Georgian Aviation'. If so, this Gulfstream II (once owned by John Travolta) presumably was added to represent the important Grumman/Gulfstream Aeropspace presence at Savannah.

57-0478 (cn 182-3185) The nose section is all that remains of this Vietnam veteran that once served with the 815th TAS/374 TAW. Now it makes this interesting exhibit at the Museum of Aviation.
