US Marshals Service
Fairchild C-123K Provider
Wendover (ENV / KENV)
USA - Utah, May 19, 2005
Remark
Photographer
N709RR (cn 20245) The "Jailbird" spending its days on the ramp at Wendover. This is not the real N709RR (cn 20158), but a stand-in aircraft (ex 56-4361), painted as N709RR.
On the left in the background is the Atomic mission hangar 1831. Often referred to as the Enola Gay hangar, it was built specifically to house the "new" B-29's of the 393rd Bombardment Squadron.

USA - Utah, May 19, 2005
Remark
Photographer
N709RR (cn 20245) Nose detail of the "Jailbird". Used in the filming of "Con Air", this aircraft now sits quietly on the ramp drawing the occasional visitor out for a look. It's not the real N709RR (cn 20158), but a stand-in aircraft (ex 56-4361).

Remark
Photographer
N709RR (cn 20245) A view of the "Jailbird's" cockpit, or more appropriately what's left of it. Obvious modifications made to facilitate ground handling during filming of the movie "Con Air". This is not the real N709RR, but a stand-in (ex 56-4361).

Wendover (ENV / KENV)
USA - Utah, May 19, 2005
Remark
Photographer
Base operations at Wendover, the former home of the B-29 crews who dropped the atomic bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Some of the base has been converted to civilian use, but most of it has simply been left to warp and tatter in the baking heat. The roaring engines of the Enola Gay have faded to a distant drone, gone forever from the hot blue sky, now a neon cowboy greets travelers along Interstate 80 on their way to some stateline casino action.

Remark

N709RR (cn 20245) Didn't know I would find a movie star in Wendover. This plane was used for the movie "Con Air". It's named "Jailbird", and even though it's painted as N709RR, it's not the real one! This one is ex USAF 56-4361.
