A79-637 / 37 (cn DHA4159) I photographed the RAAF Telstars Aerobatic Team Vampires (led by A79-637) flying at the 1965 Laverton Airshow. The Team was operated by Central Flying School (CFS) based at RAAF East Sale. The aircraft were painted Silver, with DayGlo on the nose, wingtips and fins. In Mar 2008 I was surprised to find A79-637 under Restoration at the HARS Facility at Wollongong (WOL). Wow, a 42 year gap between photos of A79-637. The other Vampire at left is A79-665. |

A94-901 / 01 (cn CA27-1) Close-cropped view of the first RAAF production CA-27 Avon Sabre: A94-901 at HARS Wollongong in 2008. (She was on 'Gate Guard' duty in the open at RAAF Base Richmond in 1992.) This aircraft was built in Aug 1954 and was 'converted to components' in 1967. This aircraft did Australia's frst super-sonic flight. She re-appeared at Bankstown in 2004, beautifully restored in this 76 Sqn Black Panthers livery. The 'Pilot's Name' is Sqn Ldr J.H. Flemming, who was Director of the AWM after he retired as an AVM. |

A4-140 / 140 (cn 140) Side view photo of the RAAF's Second Caribou aircraft, Delivered to 38 Squadron, Richmond, in March 1964. The 44 year old aircraft was arriving at the 2008 Wings Over Illawarra Airshow at WOL. [RAAF Transport Flight Vietnam (RTFV, later 35 Sqn) became the First RAAF Unit deployed to Vietnam on 08Aug1964, and the last to leave in 1972.] A4-140 is a Vietnam Veteran, having served with 35 Squadron in Vietnam from November 1968 to June 1971. This aircraft 'Soldiers On', with 38 Squadron (Townsville), in 2009. |
