G-BNND (cn E2074) Rare capture in hybrid Pacific Southwest/Air UK colours briefly worn for three months from 12.88. This 146 was initially PSA ‘Smiliner’ N368PS in 6.87 but returned to BAe only a year later as N192US after US Air merger. Leased to Thai (HS-TBQ) summer 1989; back to the States in 1990, with Business Express for two years from mid-92 and leased by ASA in 10.95 (N812AS). In 5.98 she joined Aer Lingus as EI-CSL, going on to CityJet in 10.00 and then SA’s Airlink as ZS-PUZ in 7.07 but due to move on again soon |

WZ736 Designed as an experimental aircraft to test the delta wing shape for the Avro Vulcan. Seen here while held in storage alongside the other surviving Avro 707 in the UK, WZ744. Wz736 is presently on view at the Science & Industrial Museum at Manchester, while WZ744 is displayed with the RAF Museum, Cosford. |

WZ744 The Avro 707 was the first British delta-winged aircraft. Its history is intertwined with that of the Vulcan and it was essentially a one third scale Vulcan for research into the new delta concept. The first example flew in September 1949 but crashed later that month. The example seen here, at the RAF Museum Cosford Collection was the sole C model, designed for two crew. |

WZ736 On static display in the Air and Space Hall at the Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester. This Avro 707A first flew in February 1953 as a research and development aircraft as part of the Avro Vulcan bomber programme. It tested the low speed aerodynamic characteristics of delta wings. She's powered by a single 3,600 lb st Rolls-Royce Derwent 8 turbojet engine, has a wingspan of 34ft and top speed of 415kn (Canon 350D + Sigma 10-20 EX DC HSM, Speedlight 430EX) |

G-VJET / XL426 Two old classics, both V-Jets! VRT's Vulcan waits silently for its next engine run while the magnificent 707 VH-XBA returns from one of its test flights, two days before finally heading down under (ok, this is the original 1959 c/s, it wasn't until the next scheme in 1961 that she really became a V-Jet). Oh yes, and the experimental predecessor of the Vulcan was the Avro 707... |

WZ744 The Avro 707 aircraft provided valuable information on delta winged aircraft. This one is unusual in that it was the only 'C' variant built and featured a very cramped two-seat cockpit. |
