XL150 / K (cn 1036) The biggest aircraft to land at Pendeford. Landed on the grass runway and stopped briefly but took off due to it sinking in the grass. Wonderful sight |

XH124 (cn 1030) An unusual view of the Port side of an RAF Blackburn Beverley transport aircraft, at RAF Museum Hendon in 1982. (The passenger seats are in the tailboom! - the windows are visible behind the RAF Roundel.) Unfortunately, this Beverley suffered serious structural corrosion after years of display outdoors, and the aircraft was scrapped (amid some controversy). I also photographed dismantled RAAF Lockheed Hudson A16-199 at Hendon. (She is now displayed Indoors!) |

XH124 (cn 1030) A rare image of an RAF Blackburn Beverley transport aircraft, at RAF Museum Hendon in 1982. (The passenger seats are in the tailbooms! - not visible in this photo.) I had arrived at Heathrow on Qantas B747 VH-EBK from Kuala Lumpur via Bahrain that morning, and went straight to the Battle of Britain Airshow. The BBMF Spitfire and Hurricane flew that day, but the Lancaster didn't (U/S Engine). I also photographed dismantled RAAF Lockheed Hudson A16-199 at Hendon that day. |

A16-199 / SF-R (cn 6464 / FH174) While visiting the RAF Museums at Hendon, I was surprised to see a dismantled RAAF Lockheed Hudson outside. (She is now complete, restored, and Inside!) She was delivered to the RAAF in April 1942 (ex RAF FH174) and was sold to Macquarie Grove Flying School in Sep 1947. She was sold to John Fairfax & Sons in Dec 1950 (VH-SMM), then to Sepal Pty Ltd in June 1966 (VH-AGJ), and Adastra Aerial Surveys in Oct 1969. (Blackburn Beverley XH124 is at rear.) The only flying Hudson in 2008 is at Temora NSW - VH-KOY. |

XL149 / X (cn 1035) Two classic transports for the price of one. The Beverley first flew 15.7.57 and became 7988M as an instructional frame after its 84 Sqdn service; b/u 3.77 although the cockpit section survives at Doncaster. Argosy XN819 started with A&AEE in 11.61, to 105 then 114/267 Sqdns; 8205M as ground trainer at Finningley but burnt out on fire dump by 9.86 |

XB261 (cn 1004) Rare shot of the last seconds of the last flight by this particular Beverley, arriving on delivery to the Historic Aircraft Museum. Previously used by A&AEE for ULLA heavy drop trials. Sadly rusted away after museum failed and scrapped 4.89. Cockpit now at Newark. ATC quote from early Bev flight in French airspace: "We have contact, you appear to be followed by two objects" - "That's ok, it's our fins" |
