N4249 (cn 11547) The CAF's B-29 "FIFI" is seen here with three of its four Wright R-3350 Cyclone engines idling. Engine number 4 has just coughed to life as it spews smoke. The massive 16'7" Hamilton Standard propellers are geared down to rotate at about 1/3 engine speed, or around 300 RPM at engine idle. |

N4249 / A (cn 11547) Standing fire watch while "FIFI" No.1 engine is just starting. "FIFI" had just returned from filming the made for TV movie "ENOLA GAY" starring Patrick Duffy. You can still faintly see where the words "ENOLA GAY" were painted on a slant just next to the repainted word "FIFI". Became N529B in Aug 1981. |
