72-1875 / 53 (cn CX001) The YC-15 was the McDonnell Douglas entry against the Boeing YC-14 in the Advanced Medium STOL Transport (AMST) competition. This, the first of two, made her maiden flight on 28.8.75 and was later used as a CFM-56 engine test-bed. Registered as N15YC 4.97; moved from Palmdale to Edwards AFB in 4.08 and now displayed near the west gate (Rosamond) in the Century Circle. Although neither design was adopted, McDonnell Douglas later of course went on to develop the successful C-17 Globemaster III |

A9C-LE (cn 103) A closer look inside the CFM56-5C2 engine powering this Gulf Air A340. Not being a fan of the built-in flash, this is actually the first time I really made use of it :) |

D-ABXS (cn 24280/1656) LH4941 from EDI to FRA. Nice shot of the CFM56-3 engine of this Lufthansa B737-300 (named Sindelfingen). I like the reflection of the fuselage on the engine, as well as the clouds lit up by the setting sun. The shot was taken from the 6th window from the left, the one right next to the gap. Canon EOS 40D, EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens. |
