G-EBZM (cn 160) Wings folded, on static display in the Air and Space Hall at the Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester. The Avro Avian was designed as a competitor to the De Havilland Moth series and was successfully used by a number of well-known pilots of the day to make record-breaking long distance flights. They were produced between 1920 and 1930. 58 of the Mk3A's were built, powered by a single 95 hp Cirrus III engine with a 28ft wingspan (Canon 350D + Sigma 10-20 EX DC HSM, Speedlight 430EX) |

G-AJWB (cn 6699) Designed as a spotter plane for the British Army, Miles built seventy-one Messengers, and all post-war examples, including this one from 1946, were built in its Northern Ireland factory at Newtownards. This one is owned by Peter Bishop, ironically from Woodley near Reading, site of the main Miles factory. It has recently been completely restored following an accident. The three-seat Messenger is powered by a 138hp Blackburn Cirrus inverted in-line four. (400D, Sigma 80-400 & fluid-head tripod) |
