Railway Air Services (Eastern Airways)
De Havilland Australia DH-84A Dragon 3
Mildenhall (MHZ / GXH / EGUN)
UK - England, May 15, 2009
Remark
Photographer
G-ECAN (cn DHA2048) A re-enactment of the start of the MacRobertson Air Race from England to Australia in 1934 took place at Midenhall. Although a grass strip was prepared this became unusable due to cross winds and a taxiway where aircraft had been parked became a short temporary runway. Many hands were needed to remove the parked aircraft and the visitors were moved away so this temporary 'runway' could be used.
