Untitled
De Havilland DHC-1 Chipmunk 22
Hullavington (EGDV)
UK - England, May 20, 2007
Remark
Photographer
G-BCXN / WP800 (cn C1/0692) This 1952 Chipmunk is owned by Geoffrey Turner of Chesham and has retained its former RAF identity as WP800; it wears an RAF colour scheme that dates from before 1963 when yellow stripes gave way to dayglow orange panels. WP800 was retired from the substantial RAF fleet in 1975 and is one of 128 currently on the British register. It is seen here about to depart from the Great Vintage Flying Weekend. (400D, Sigma 80-400 & fluid-head tripod)

UK - Air Force
De Havilland DH-98 Mosquito Prototype
Off-Airport - London Colney
UK - England, June 26, 2005
Remark
Photographer
W4050 (cn I98001) The world's only surviving World War II prototype. Built here at Salisbury Hall and transported by road to nearby Hatfield airfield on 03-Nov-1940. First ever flight of a Mosquito was 25-Nov-1940 when Geoffrey de Havilland Jnr lifted W4050 from Hatfield's runway. Painted overall yellow for easy identification, W4050 proved the performance of the ultra-fast fighter/bomber. This prototype eventually retired and has been on display here since 15-May-1959.
